Who we are
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company name], [Company address] (“we”, “us”), who offers Anvil. By creating an account or using Anvil you agree to them. If you use it for an organisation, you agree for that organisation and confirm that you may.
What Anvil is
Anvil is a desktop app that runs coding agents, such as Claude Code and Codex, in sessions on your own computers, with a phone app and this website that reach them. Its subscription adds our online services: your account and signing in, the list and the log of your devices, the links between your devices and the relays that carry them when no direct path exists, notifications, and billing.
Your account
- You need an account to use Anvil. Give an email address you can read and keep access to it: it is how you sign in and how we reach you.
- An account is for one person. Don’t share it: every device signed in to your account has full access to every computer in it, including running commands and reading files there.
- Keep your devices and your email secure, and sign out any device you lose from another one. You are responsible for what is done through your account.
The trial and the subscription
- A new account has a free trial of 14 days, with everything included. No card is needed, and there is one trial for each person.
- After the trial the subscription costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year, or the price the checkout shows in your currency, with tax included where the law requires it. If a price changes, we tell you at least 30 days before the change applies to your subscription.
- A subscription renews at the end of each period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in your account’s billing portal; your plan stays until the end of the period you paid for.
- When a trial or a subscription ends, the app turns read-only: your projects, sessions and settings stay on your computers and stay readable, and new work waits until you subscribe again.
- An account can have up to 10 computers. Phones and browsers don’t count.
Payments through Paddle
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle’s own terms apply to the purchase, and its name is on your receipt.
Refunds
You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of any payment. The refund policy says how.
Your work and your computers
- Your projects, code, prompts, transcripts and the rest of your work stay on your computers. We don’t receive them, and we claim no rights in them.
- Agents run on your computers with the permissions you give them, and can change files and run commands there. You decide what they may do, and you are responsible for what they do on your computers and for checking their work.
- Claude Code, Codex, and your Claude and ChatGPT accounts are other companies’ services, under their own terms. Anvil provides no access to any model: your use of them is between you and their providers.
Using the service fairly
Don’t:
- get around the app’s licensing or your plan’s limits, or help anyone do so;
- resell the service, or share access to it beyond your own devices;
- use the links or the relays to carry anything unlawful, or to attack or spy on anyone;
- probe, overload or disrupt our servers;
- use Anvil to break the law or anyone’s rights.
Relayed traffic is meant for links that have no direct path: we may limit an account whose relayed traffic is far beyond what using the app takes.
The software
We give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to install and use the Anvil app on your devices while you have an account, under these terms. Updates are offered, never forced. Don’t copy, change or redistribute the app, or take it apart, except where the law allows it. Open source parts of the app come with their own licences.
Privacy
How we handle your data is in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
Ending
- You can delete your account at any time, in your account on this site or in the app’s Settings, Account. Deleting it cancels your plan at once and signs out every device.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why where we can.
- If we stop offering the service, we tell you at least 30 days before, and refund what you paid for the time after it ends.
What we promise, and what we don’t
Anvil is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it running and secure, but we don’t promise that it will never be interrupted or have errors, or that an agent’s work will be right. As far as the law allows, we make no other promises about it.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or revenue, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away your rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We tell you by email at least 30 days before a change that matters to you takes effect, and the date at the top of this page changes with them. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t accept them, you can cancel and delete your account.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where [Company name] is established. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection the law of the country you live in gives you.
